After watching Kimi no Na wa for the 2nd time, I’ve realized that it is indeed a movie that you need to watch multiple times in order to take in all details. Even with all the supposed visual fillers, I feel like there are no wasted scenes at all. Every small details felt like visual ASMR (Autonomous sensory meridian response), designed to allure the audience.
There were some inconvenient plot devices, but I guess those were necessary. As long as they weren’t completely asspulls, they’re fine.
The plot is simple but the delivery, together with the breath-taking visuals and exhilarating music, made it outstanding.
(Also with every good movie, there will always be one or two flaws. I won’t discuss those since it would mean spoilers..)
Today is probably the last day of the movie on local theaters in the Philippines. If you haven’t watched it yet, there are still some cinemas showing it before the yearly MMFF replaces the current movie lineup.
